MINOTAUR BOOKS ACQUIRES BESTSELLING AUTHOR NEVADA BARR FOR THREE-BOOK DEAL
Nevada Barr, author of recent New York Times bestseller Borderline, has moved her long-running, award winning series to Minotaur Books. In a deal negotiated by Executive Editor Keith Kahla of St. Martin’s Press and Minotaur Books Publisher Andrew Martin, Minotaur Books will publish the next three books featuring National Park Service law enforcement officer Anna Pigeon starting in 2010. The deal for North American rights was negotiated with Barr’s longtime agent Dominick Abel.
“We are big fans of Nevada Barr’s and of her Anna Pigeon series here at Minotaur and I am absolutely delighted to be welcoming her onto our list,” says Minotaur VP, Publisher Andrew Martin. “She is a star author with growing legions of fans and we can’t wait to publish her.”
Barr is the winner of the Anthony, Agatha, and the French Prieu du Roman awards. Borderline, the 15th Anna Pigeon novel, came out in April 2009 and reached #7 on the New York Times best seller list. Regarding her books, the New York Times Book Review has said “Nevada Barr writes with a cool, steady hand about the violence of nature and the cruelty of man.” The Denver Post has praised Barr’s series for its “careful, craftsmanlike writing and thoughtful prose that meditates on both nature and human nature, backed by a plot that always moves at breakneck speed, leaving readers dizzy, emotionally wrung-out and awestruck.”
Minotaur Books is an imprint of St. Martin’s Press, a subsidiary of Macmillan.
