Val McDermid has sold over 10 million copies of 26 crime novels.  The ITV series Wire in the Blood was based on her books.  McDermid’s work has won several awards, including an LA Times book prize and the CWA Dagger.

Denise Mina is a Scottish crime writer and playwright.  She has written the Garnethill trilogy and another three novels featuring the character Patricia “Paddy” Meehan, a Glasgow journalist.

Louise Welsh’s debut novel, The Cutting Room (2002), was nominated for several

literary awards including the 2003 Orange Prize for Fiction.  It won the Crime Writers’ Association Creasey Dagger for the best first crime novel.
