With all this COVID-19 lockdown dominating our lives, it was good to
speak to Journalist Karen Robinson of The Sunday Times. She brought to the attention
of Shots Magazine readers an interesting writing competition, for unpublished
crime writers, in conjunction with publisher Hodder and Stoughton.
Over to Karen Robinson -
Have you got what it takes to be a bestselling crime writer? Find out by
entering the Crime Club/Elizabeth George crime-writing competition. Unpublished
authors have until Tuesday, June 2, to submit a 200-word synopsis and a first
chapter of no more than 2,500 words.
Elizabeth George, the creator of the
Inspector Lynley series, will pick the winner. She’s just published Mastering
the Process, her guide to writing novels, based on a lifetime in the bestseller
lists.
The winner’s prize is a personal masterclass with the author and a
consultation with the commissioning editor for crime at Hodder & Stoughton,
her UK publisher.
Runners up will also be offered a consultation with a Hodder
commissioning editor.
Good luck.
So, with time on your hands, why not read up on the
crime writing process, and investigate this competition
