Leonardo DiCaprio to play "The Devil in the White City"


According to Empire and Deadline actor Leonardo DiCaprio has picked up the rights to Erik Larson’s non-fiction book The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic And Madness At The Fair That Changed America. Larson's book chronicles the story of real-life serial killer Dr HH Holmes. Holmes is said to have killed a large number of people during the period of the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. DiCaprio will play the lead character Dr H H Holmes. The rights for Larson's book were originally optioned back in 2003 by Tom Cruise. In 2003 The Devil in the White City was short listed for the Non-fiction National Book Award and the CWA Dagger for Non-Fiction. In 2004 it won the Edgar Award for Best Fact Crime.
