2022 Hammett Prize Shortlist

 

The International Association of Crime Writers, North America have announced the 2022 Hammett Prize Shortlist. 

The Hammett Prize is given for literary Excellence in Crime Writing. Books must be published in the English language in the U.S. or Canada.

The Hammett Prize

The 2020 Dashiell Hammett Award for Literary Excellence in Crime Writing was announced by the International Association of Crime Writers.

The winner will be awarded the Hammett trophy, designed by artist Peter Boiger, depicting a falcon-headed figure based upon a celebrated photograph of Dashiell Hammett. The location of the presentation to be determined at a later time.

The North American Branch of the International Association of Crime Writers announced the nominees for their annual HAMMETT PRIZE for a work of literary excellence in the field of crime writing by a US or Canadian author.

The Whites: A Novel, by Richard Price, writing as Harry Brandt (Henry Holt)
The Do-Right, by Lisa Sandlin (Cinco Puntos Press)
The Organ Broker: A Novel, by Stu Strumwasser (Arcade)

A reading committee of IACW/NA members selected the nominees, based on recommendations from other members and the publishing community. The organization will name the HAMMETT PRIZE winner, during the NoirCon literary conference in Philadelphia, October 26-30, 2016. The winner will receive a bronze trophy, designed by sculptor Peter Boiger.

Left Coast Crime “Crimelandia” Award results – Portland, Oregon March 12-15, 2015

Left Coast Crime is an annual convention sponsored by fans of mystery literature for fans of mystery literature, including both readers and authors. Usually held in the western half of North America, LCC’s intent is to provide an event where mystery fans can gather in convivial surroundings to pursue their mutual interests.

At Left Coast Crime 2015, “Crimelandia” four awards were given out at the 25th annual LCC convention, this year in Portland.

Hammett Prize

The Hammett Prize for literary excellence in crime writing which is given to a work of fiction or nonfiction by a U.S. or Canadian author is awarded by the North American Branch of the International Association of Crime Writers. The list of nominees for the 2009 Hammett Prize was announced on Saturday 31 January 2009.

The winner will be declared during the New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association (NAIBA) Sales Conference, that is due to be held in Baltimore, October 4-5.
