Breaking News! New crime prize Criminal Lines launched

AM Heath in association with The Writers’ Workshop are delighted to announce Criminal Lines 2014, a new crime writing prize open to unagented, debut authors, born or resident in the UK and Ireland.

If you’ve written a perfect murder, a psychological nail-biter, or a gripping procedural, why not enter it for the prize? We’re looking for anything that will chill or thrill, with characters we can’t walk away from.

You can enter any kind of crime, suspense or thriller novel for the prize, with the proviso that any material previously submitted to AM Heath is ineligible. Your novel doesn’t have to be finished but the synopsis does need to show you have a clear vision for the book. Self-published authors are welcome to enter.

Entry and judges
To enter, send the first 15,000 words and a synopsis (max 800 words) as word documents to: criminallines@amheath.com
Submissions are open from 17th February 2014, and the deadline is midnight on 5th May.

The prize will be judged by AM Heath agents Euan Thorneycroft and Oli Munson, and crime authors Harry Bingham, Mari Hannah and Samantha Hayes. Go to AM Heath's website to find out more about the judges.

You will receive confirmation that we’ve received your submission, but only shortlisted candidates will be contacted subsequently to that.

The Prize
First prize: £1,000
Second Prize: entry to the Festival of Writing 2014
All shortlisted writers will have the chance to meet with Euan Thorneycroft and Oli Munson to discuss their work.

Shortlist and winner
A shortlist of five novels will be announced on 2nd June, and a winner on 1st July.
We will offer representation if we find an author, or authors, whose writing we love.
If you are offered representation by another agency while Criminal Lines is running, you must tell us straight away.
